Joyce can act, sing and write; this Syrian girl has many talents ! But she had three weaknesses: math, science and English. For this reason she turned to the Youth Our Future Center – Our youth are our future , which Seeds of Hope supports in Damascus to provide academic support to children who need it. Joyce began attending during the winter session, making herself known for her qualities and for her stubborn and ambitious character. When the teachers at the center discovered that Joyce was good at writing, they asked her to do something for them – for that spirit of reciprocity that animates all the actions of the AMU. They simply asked her to tell her story. And Joyce accepted. So that his words may be of support to other kids.
“Graduating from high school is the most difficult moment in life, because it is decisive for the future. So far I have faced everything. The economic conditions of the country have negatively affected the financial situation of my family. The public school in Syria is very poor.
I entered the Youth Our Future Center – Our Youth Are Our Future and I started to improve here. I follow my classes, the teaching staff is great because they are very cooperative with the students. Despite all the stress and pressure we are experiencing, it is a wonderful experience. I feel like I belong here.
I hope to get through the year and get a satisfactory result to make my dream come true. Which one? Becoming an engineer. I know I have to work hard and commit. I wish all the students at the center success!” Joyce – the teachers say – is one of the most ambitious students and everyone knows her stubbornness. She was able to ease the psychological pressure she felt, with the guidance of her teachers. Now she is able to tackle even the subjects that were the most difficult for her. Everyone hopes that Joyce will realize his life plan.
