Since the beginning of the conflict until today, numerous actions have been undertaken by AMU and AFN representing the Emergency Coordination of the Focolare Movement, starting with the immediate collaboration with Caritas-Spes Ukraine. Food and medicines were the first aid guaranteed, together with psychological support and the reception of internally displaced persons in the centers of Caritas-Spes Ukraine.
The military escalation of the conflict in Ukraine continues to cause loss of life, injuries and flight of the civilian population to other areas of the country or to neighboring countries. The bombings continue to cause serious destruction and damage to civilian infrastructure and homes. The situation, especially in the eastern part, remains difficult. Hot meals, drinking water and electricity are still among the most urgent emergencies to be addressed. After these immediate interventions, which continue to be a priority in the various cities of Ukraine, AMU and AFN have started a second phase of support to the population also together with other local partners. Furthermore, further new interventions are being studied to offer first aid to the population in the regions of Cherson and Mykolaiv and to open a specialized center for children with disabilities.
