We enable families in urban and rural areas of 5 provinces of Burundi (Bujumbura, Bururi, Ruyigi, Kayanza, Cibitoke) to start and manage their own income-generating activities more effectively.
Burundi, the second most densely populated country in Africa, is one of the five countries with the highest poverty rates in the world. Ranked 185th out of 189 countries in the Human Development Index (2019 Report), nearly one in two families suffers from food insecurity. Since 2007, AMU and CASOBU have been accompanying Burundian families on a path to improving their living conditions by intervening in various areas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBbow8F7Daolist=PLfcAWPz4i7I5B7IDsuJUM-8PiTWTvr4YRindex=1
BIRASHOBOKA! In Kirundi it means YOU CAN DO IT! It is from this belief that the Community Microcredit and Microfinance project was born. Despite the great difficulties that the country still faces, in recent years we have discovered that supporting the skills and ideas of the local community is the best way to achieve lasting and conscious development. The project aims to create community microcredit groups whose members can self-support for the creation of work activities and, in the second phase, create a community microfinance group to support the growth of expanding projects. Made with the contribution of EdC – Economy of Communion and the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
